After Donald Trump’s announcement over twitter account with an official statement, Google reported up to a 1,500% surge in the number of people searching variations of the phrase “how to move to Canada.”
A tweet by Google’s data editor, Simon Rogers, alerted the world to the interest. He noted a spike of 350% in searches over a four-hour period for “how can I move to Canada” coming from the United States.
So many Americans were searching for instructions on leaving the great country that the Canadian government’s website seemed to be having and facing problems.
Donald Trump moved closer to winning his parties’ nominations with a series of victories in the Super Tuesday elections.
Trump won at least seven of 11 state races as he distanced himself from party rivals. Ted Cruz, a Republican senator, won his home state of Texas, Alaska and Oklahoma as he sought to emerge as Trump’s main rival.
For Marco Rubio, who is also seeking to emerge as the main alternative to Trump, the night was disappointing, as he only managed to score a campaign win in Minnesota.
